Nissan: a second life for Li-ion
Von laptop, 10:47Nissan Motor Co. and Sumitomo announced the creation of “4R Battery”, a joint venture with the objective of “reuse, resell, recycle and refashion the” lithium-ion batteries previously used in electric cars, to give them a “second life “.
There is still no commercial offers on the reuse of large-capacity Dell Vostro 1310 battery, so that by 2020, demand for batteries of “second hand” to reach Japan, the equivalent of 50,000 electric cars a year at least .
The Renault-Nissan has committed to producing electric vehicles for mass market by 2012. As consumers are moving gradually towards the “Zero Emission” demand for Dell xps m1210 battery of second life should increase as the supply of ‘new batteries, electric cars exists.
Even after the end of normal life of the vehicle, the lithium-ion Dell Vostro 1500 battery used by Nissan will retain 70-80% of its residual capacity and may be subject to re-use before being sold to other sectors such as solution energy storage.
The business concept is summarized by the following points:
* Reuse the battery for 70 to 80% of its capacity;
* Sell batteries for various applications;
* Reshaping: remove, rearrange and customize the Dell Latitude E5500 battery depending on customer needs;
* Recycling: get the raw end of battery life.
In 2020 in Japan, the batteries of “second life” should be in high demand for the following applications:
* Storing energy from solar photovoltaic panels for residential and industrial needs;
* Provision of backup power;
* Uninterruptible power supply (UPS);
* Smoothing of energy input (wind – solar) to the network.
