Power LED flashes irregularly and battery flashing on and off

The laptop power LED flashes irregularly and the battery charge and flashes off when Dell Studio 15 AC Adapter is plugged into the laptop.
Possible Cause:
First Power jack failure.
Second AC adapter fails.
Possible steps for troubleshooting and repair solution:
If it only happens when you move the adapter plug inside the power jack, it is likely that you have a problem with the power connector in the laptop. The Dell XPS M1530 AC Adapter must be replaced or resoldered.
If it happens even without the adapter plug, the problem could be the faulty power supply related.
You can test the PSU with a voltmeter and see if the voltage is correct ouputed. If the voltage is not correct, replace the Dell Inspiron 5150 AC Adapter.
But do not trust that, even if the output matches votage specifications. It is possible that the power supply doesn't 'properly under load. Test your laptop with another known good Dell Inspiron 1100 AC Adapter. If the laptop works fine with another adapter, the Dell PA-21 AC Adapter is defective and must be replaced.
